What is d2p anti-bacterial?

d2p anti-bacterial (ab) is a silver based masterbatch designed to provide plastic with anti-bacterial properties. It has been successfully tested against over 50 common organisms including dangerous bacteria such as MRSA, E.coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Pseudomonas and Aspergillus Niger. d2p ab provides a protection against transmission of bacteria through contact with everyday items.

How it works

The technology behind d2p anti-bacterial technology.


Silver ions cannot be added alone in the polymer. It have to use a carrier to introduce and release slowly the active principle like microscopic sponges. There are 4 principle means.


The microscopic carriers (sponges) containing the silver ions are blended in the polymer during the process.


Silver ions enter the bacteria’s membrane and cause damage and disruption to the cellular wall before penetrating the cell.


Silver ions are highly reactive with the cell enzymes and can deactivate these vital molecules.


Silver ions interrupt the cell DNA preventing replication and cell formation.

Silver is widely accepted as having broad-spectrum anti-bacterial activity.
